conversational spam

Found on Bryan-Mitchell Young Popular Culture Gaming: EA University!
Conversational comment spam. Three guys, “Paul”, “Steeveguy”, and “Kidrock” have a content-free exchange in an oh-so-subtle attempt to promote some websites.
I’ve pasted the fakey conversation below.

Fake comments:
I thought this one would definitely inspire many bloggers. Come on guys!

Are you spamming Paul?
Not too much sence in your comment.

Don’t take it personally, Paul. There are many bad people in the internet. Steeve just suspected you. Not too polite though, I admit.

I’m sorry. Just let’s stop it.

Of course there is the irony that story is a photo essay about how corporate street teams are invading college campuses.
This is the most sophisticated spam attempt I’ve seen so far. Of course it isn’t particularly difficult to do, just write a script to submit the data, hook it up to a cron job, and turn it on.
And it is easily defeated by anyone running MT-Blacklist. If you’ve got a Movable Type blog, you really must install this.

Thanks for the heads up about MT-Blacklist. I’ve been getting obvious spam and been deleting it, but couldn’t find an easy way to take care of it.
I’m not 100% convinced the comments you mention are spam (although I highly suspect they are). The other spam I’ve been getting has been obvious penis enlargement and the like. The sites these comments link to donn’t seem to be selling anything. If it is spam, it is really weird. (then again if they are comments they are also really weird…)
Anyway, I just installed and activated MT-Blacklist and hopefully there will be many fewer spams.
    Thanks
